Pond Lighting

Pond light

Amazing effects can be created with pond lighting. You can make a fountain glow or illuminate an entire pond. Many pond owners use lighting to enhance the beauty of their pond and extend their enjoyment of their water garden throughout the evening hours. Pond lights can be positioned below the surface of the water for an iridescent effect, and around your pond to highlight plantings or water features. Adding lighting to your pond is easy with the availability of a number of innovative kits.

Pond lights come in a variety of different forms: submersible, floating, and external. Most kits come with their needed transformers. Individual pond lights can be purchased to add on to most kits.

  • Submersible lighting create beautiful effects of colors rippling across water surface.
  • Floating lights are designed to be seen and will accent the beauty of plant life on the surface of your pond and around its perimeter.
  • External pond lighting act as luminous accents for highlighting water features, pathways around the pond, statuary, or the pond itself.

Make sure that you install a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) on the electrical lines serving your lights. We also recommend that you include a timer in your lighting system. Some pond owners include motion sensor switches to activate their lighting system to deter unsuspecting pond predators.
